“You’re only young once. You have to take hold of those youthful years,” advised Chelsea Tew. “Live with no regrets. Do whatever it is that makes you happy.”
Chelsea Tew does what she can to live life with no regrets. When she was a child, she developed relationships that have lasted a lifetime.
“We used to live in a neighborhood, and up the street is where I discovered my first best friend. We’ve been friends since we were three years old, and we’re still friends today,” recalled Chelsea. “Her sisters are also my friends because there were multiple siblings, and we lived within walking distance of each other. Living in that neighborhood was the best for me because we could get out and ride our bikes, ride a go cart, walk to each other’s house, and stuff like that. A very fond memory of mine is living in such a close knit neighborhood where your friend is right down the street.”
While she did try to continue her education after graduating high school, she wasn’t entirely sure what she wanted her career to be.
“I finished my education at Southern Choctaw High School in Gilbertown. I graduated from there in 2011,” expressed Chelsea. “I went to college for a year after that, but I did not further anything after that because I did not enjoy school when I was in high school. I would absolutely go back and repeat my senior year just for the friends and stuff you have in high school, but I never knew what I wanted to do as far as a specialty or career. My brother has always known he wants to be in the medical field, and he’s a nurse. I didn’t want to be a nurse.”
It was through some of her experience after leaving school that she discovered something she may enjoy doing.
“When I think about it now, I would have loved to have gone to pharmacy tech school,” declared Chelsea. “I would love to fix medicine—count pills and fix medicine. I used to do that at the clinic when I worked there, and I always liked that. I didn’t know that 12 years ago, so I just went to college for a year and have worked since then.”
She’s been a hard worker since she got her first job as a teenager.
“My first job was at Clarke County Animal Clinic. I was 14 or 15 when I started and was 26 when I left,” explained Chelsea. “I then went to work at Nothing Fancy Boutique in 2020 and was there until about 2021. I have been at Just TEEsin’ ever since then. I am the brain for the other two ladies that work here because if I don’t remember something, they’re not going to remember it. This is my domain now, and I have no intentions on going anywhere. Kelly says I can’t leave, so I’ll be here until further notice.”
While she enjoys her job, the thing she likes the most is being able to spend time with her family.
“I love to spend time with my family, especially the family I’m closest too like my mama and grandparents,” proclaimed Chelsea. “We’ve always lived close to my grandparents. One thing that’s always been a favorite of mine growing up was when my mama had to work, I’d stay with my grandparents. I’m very family oriented and like sticking close to family. I love seeing my family, especially my grandparents. Even today I love to see my grandparents and make sure I try to see them every weekend because I want Jax to be the same way. I still have my grandparents, and they’re his great grandparents, so I make sure just about every Sunday that we go over there.”
There are special traditions in her family that she enjoys and plans to try and continue as much as she can in the future.
“On Christmas day, after we get up and open presents at home, we always go to my grandparents and have breakfast,” informed Chelsea. “That’s probably one of my favorite traditions, and I hope to keep carrying that on for many more years. That’s something we do every Christmas, and I want to keep it alive.”
With each day that passes by, Chelsea intends to continue to work hard and spend as much time with her family as she can. She will continue to make decisions each day so that she can live her life with no regrets.
