Each state has a list of unclaimed property that people have failed to receive from moving, not claiming it, etc. I once checked for myself and had a couple of utility refund checks that were not forwarded from a previous location where I lived. Of course, it was like an act of Congress to prove that these belonged to me.
As Christians, we have huge unclaimed inheritance that is ours for our time on earth and not just for when we get to Heaven. It always amazes me how much I see Christians stay in the Mully-Grubs or wear their trials and tribulations as a badge of honor. To do this is basically to forget our spiritual inheritance which actually controls everything else – if we accept and live it out.
Being a Christian is not all about us, but rather about Who is in us and that is where the difference is. God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all powerful. When a person becomes a Christian, that power comes inside of them to be used at living out life. However, we forget this and somehow think that becoming a Christian is just buying an advance ticket to go to Heaven when we die or get raptured out. In reality, that total power comes to live inside of us in our natural lives as long as we are physically here on Earth.
A Christian has the inheritance, but there is a choice on what to do with it. We can follow the example of Prince Harry and refuse to live in it rather to “make it on our own.” Or we can embrace the power within us to live out that old familiar hymn “Victory in Jesus.” If we choose to live in our inheritance, we don’t have to prove we have it – we just start doing it.
