Grateful smiles adorned the faces of multiple residents at the local nursing home and assisted living facility in the county on Valentine’s Day as they accepted Valentine cards made just for them.
With the help of precious children from Quitman Lower Elementary, Enterprise Elementary, and The Shepherd’s Staff, we were able to spread a little love and cheer to the residents at Diversicare in Quitman and Wisteria Manor. We are so thankful for everyone who participated with us to make the cards and for the local homes for allowing us to deliver the cards for the residents.
Overall, the students created 273 Valentine cards with the intent to show those in the nursing homes that they are loved and cared about.
“This year we had three children who went with us to deliver the cards,” stated reporter Brittney Mangum. “You could see the residents’ eyes light up with excitement when the kids were handing them some cards. It was really a blessing to see and amazing to see all the effort the children put in to make sure someone else could feel special on Valentine’s Day.”
“I’m so thankful for the schools working with us to make this possible. If it wasn’t for them, this wouldn’t be the success it is,” stated publisher Belinda Allen. “We were able to take our kids with us, and watching the joy on their faces passing out the cards and the excitement of those who received cards was just a beautiful thing to witness.”
We look forward to doing this again next year!
