Walter David Fleming, 65, passed away on April 21, 2022, in Gulfport, MS, after a courageous fight with cancer. A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held at Wright’s Funeral Home in Quitman, MS, on May 14, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.
Walter was born in Quitman to Denny and Bessie Fleming on November 14, 1956. He earned two degrees from Mississippi State University in 1979. He made a life in Columbus, MS, and had a successful career as a computer programmer until his retirement in 2020. Walter was a loyal fan of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and he loved to travel. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He was a loyal friend, a caring sibling and son, and a loving, supportive father and grandfather.
Walter is preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Fleming.
He is survived by his children, Sara “Kati” Flinn and Ben (Amanda) Fleming; his father, Denny Fleming; his siblings, Rebecca Ainsworth, Jeff (Kathie) Fleming, Lisa (Kenneth/Kristen) Dearman, and Greg (Lisa/Isabella) Fleming; and his granddaughters, Alena (9y), Alina (4y) and Eloise (10m).
