Walter Neal Johnson, 86, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away on May 5, 2022, at his residence.
He was born on July 24, 1935, to Houston and Thelma (Jordan) Johnson in Glendale, Texas.
Walter is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Louise Johnson (David) Irwin; two sons, Stephen Craig (Ana) Johnson and Robert Kelly (Heather) Johnson; six grandchildren, Nial Avry Irwin, Meghan Leigh Sullivan, Carley Samantha Johnson, Sean Christopher Johnson, Joseph Robert Johnson, and Sarah Elizabeth Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Houston Neely Johnson; mother, Thelma Opal Johnson; wife, Myrtle Mary (Tusson) Johnson; daughter-in-law, Jamie Suzanne Sullivan Johnson; grandson, Patrick Kelly Johnson; and sister, Billie Beth Popham.
Walter was a chemist in sales and loved his work, working until age 82. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved living in Mississippi. He enjoyed many friends in his community.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Carmichael Community Center, 4585 County Rd 630, Shubuta, MS 39360 on Saturday May 14, 2022, from 1 - 5 p.m. Join us for a casual celebration to share stories, support and a meal.
