Pat and James Dew started Clean Team and Dew’s Lawncare while living in another state, but after recently moving back to Clarke County, they would like to continue their businesses to benefit the people in this area.
“We’re originally from here,” explained Pat. “I went to Quitman High, and we met. When we got married at a young age, I went back to Georgia and he went with me. I opened up a business in 1993, and he started working with a plumbing company and was with them for a long time. We made a pact that once he retired, we would come back home to Quitman because that’s what he wanted to do. It came time for that to happen, and now I’m trying to build up some clientele here, and he’s started doing yards.”
Since 1993, she has maintained her cleaning business called Clean Team. While her husband sometimes helps her, she is the only employee and does her best to make sure that everything she cleans is done to perfection. She offers different packages for cleaning, and the pricing depends on the job and condition of the location.
“It’s a residential commercial cleaning. We don’t do carpet cleaning or anything like that, but it is janitorial,” described Pat. “We go into people’s home and give them a free estimate. We do deep cleans and basic cleans. It’s like two packages, and they decide which package they want. I give them a price and start their service. They can do weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. It’s their choice, or they could do a one-time clean. A lot of companies and people move out or in and want their houses clean. We do spring cleaning and some of the deeper stuff. We don’t wash linens or laundry; it’s mainly just making beds and household chores that people can’t always deal with because they work all the time. We are licensed and insured as a small business.”
The price for services with Clean Team begins at $65 and goes up from there depending on the job and conditions.
Her husband has started his own small business, Dew’s Lawncare.
“I’ll cut grass, do trimming, hedging, blowing leaves and driveways, and all of that,” stated James.
His base price starts around $45 and goes up from there depending on the size of the yard and work required.
