The Primary Election will be held Tuesday, April 1, for voters to narrow down the democratic and republican candidates to one candidate each in the municipal election. The candidate elected in the primary will face their opponent and independent candidates in the general election on June 3.
In a primary election, voters will have to choose to cast their votes on the democratic ballot or republican ballot. In the event of a run – off, you will have to vote with the same party as the primary.
In a general election held in June, there is one ballot and voters do not have to vote according to a party affiliation.
Keep in mind, there are a lot of candidates in some municipalities who are running as an Independent, and their name will not appear on the ballot until the June General Election.
Don’t forget – voter identification is now required by the State of Mississippi.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
