William Leonard "Bill" Cottengim, 77, of Meridian, Mississippi, passed away on October 16, 2022, at his residence.
He was born on April 1, 1945, to William and Mary Cottengim in Covington, KY.
Bill joined the United States Marine Corp right out of high school and served in the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he went to work for Southern Railroad, where he worked as an Engineer and retired as now known as Norfolk Southern Railroad, where he worked as an Engineer and retired as management. Of all his accomplishments in life, his family was his greatest pride and joy. He adored his children and grandchildren and made sure they knew they were loved everyday. Bill will be remembered as a loving, caring and compassionate father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Lynn Waltman (Al) and Cary Richardson; grandchildren, Maura Coffey (Hayden), Michael Waltman, Cade Richardson, and Calen Richardson; brother, Terry Cottengim; and the mother of his children, Barbara Cottengim.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Cottengim.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 9:00 -10:00 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS.
Burial will take place in the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Al Waltman, Cade Richardson, Michael Waltman, Hayden Coffey, Nils Richardson, and Steve Waltman.
