Arval Gwin Smith, 82, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away on August 5, 2026, at his residence.
He was born on February 21, 1944, to Aubrey and Alice (Walley) Smith in Laurel, Mississippi.
Arval is survived by his wife, Toye E. Smith; daughter, Gina M. (Jimmy) Hudson; son, Michael D. Smith; daughter-in-law, Sandra Smith; six grandchildren, Tiffany H. (David) Lawrence, Hamilton Hudson, Hunter Holloman, Layne Smith, Justin (Jennifer) Woods, and Kristy (Keith) Dickerson; seven great-grandchildren, Hudson Lawrence, Tinsley Lawrence, Cameron Carney, Gavin Ivy, Aubrey Ivy, Casey Dickerson and Vance Woods; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Aubrey G. Smith; mother, Alice W. Smith; son, Gwin Smith; brother, Rickey Smith; and sister, Glynna Smith Ivy.
Visitation was held Friday, August 7, 2026, 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August 7, 2026, 10:00 a.m. at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Kennedy officiating.
Burial took place in the Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
