Ole Miss, Georgia and Missouri surprised folks with their wins last Saturday. Florida, Tennessee and Alabama won, as many knew they would. This week the key game is in Baton Rouge as the Tigers host Florida.
The take from week 11
Arkansas keeps pulling the Jekyll and Hyde act. Who are these guys? They dominated Florida two weeks ago and then fell flat on their face this past week against LSU. The Tigers usually play a lousy game after falling to Alabama, but they looked like the SEC's second best team in their domination of Arkansas. Ole Miss, Georgia and Missouri surprised folks with their wins last Saturday. Florida, Tennessee, and Alabama won key SEC games.
Better take notice game
Ole Miss has a new quarterback that bears watching. Shea Patterson should make Ole Miss fans excited about the future. Patterson led Ole Miss to 23 points in the final period to upset 11th ranked Texas A&M 29-28.
This Week
The SEC has four conference games this week. Ole Miss goes to Vanderbilt, MSU hosts Arkansas, Florida heads to Baton Rouge and Missouri travels to Tennessee. The non-conference games are not that attractive but Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina and A&M should come away with easy wins.
The Picks
MSU did not play well last week, but I think Arkansas played worse. MSU will have a great challenge, but playing at home against Arkansas will help. The Razorbacks will be tested by MSU. Arkansas 34-27.
Ole Miss released their secret weapon last week in College Station in Shea Patterson. The Rebels should be feeling good as they head to Nashville in trying to secure their sixth win of the season in hopes of becoming bowl eligible. Ole Miss 27-20.
The Golden Eagles lost for the third straight time against opponents that do not have the quality of athletes they have. Early turnovers put USM in a 21-0 hole that they never recovered from last week. This week, they play at North Texas. North Texas 38-31.
Week 12 Picks
Alabama 45, Chattanooga 0; Auburn 49, Alabama A&M 6; LSU 28, Florida 10; Georgia 27, UL- Lafayette 13; Kentucky 38, Austin Peay 28; South Carolina 31, West Carolina 14; Texas A&M 45, UT-SA 13.
The Scribe did not see the Ole Miss upset of A&M last week. The Scribe had his first non-winning mark of the season at 4-4 last week, but he improved to 85-22 on the year.
