With Easter quickly approaching, Journey Ministries is excited to host another amazing production with Journey to the Cross at Breckenridge Farms, located at 181 Americana Dr. in Shubuta, on March 22 – March 24. The event is free to attend.
There are a few things they plan to do a little differently this time.
“To try to get more of the community involved, we will have a food truck this time,” explained Kristin Phillips with Journey Ministries. “People are welcome to bring money to get whatever they want to eat. We’ll also have a kid’s area. We’re renting a blow-up bounce house and a blow-up obstacle course. The kid’s area will be kind of fenced in. We’ll have that option for parents that want to come and don’t want to worry about the kids running around. Each night, the kid’s area will be taken care of and overseen by a different church.”
They are most excited about a new option they have to go through the scenes, and it could make it a little easier for those who would like to stay for the revival services as well.
“The thing we’re most excited about is that we’re offering a trailer ride through the scenes,” proclaimed Phillips. “We’ll have a narrator that will be riding in the trailer with them, and it will be taking them through the different scenes and reading the scripture of each scene just to kind of get a little bit more of a personal level to it. People will still have the opportunity to just drive through in their car like we’ve done before, but we’re really going to be encouraging people to come park at the tent. Then, they can just ride the trailer we have being pulled by a tractor with a narrator telling the story to them. That’s something kind of different that we’re excited about.”
Those who drive through the scenes will be able to see 14 scenes from the life of Christ from his birth all the way up to the ascension. Multiple churches are participating to bring each scene to life, and they are excited to have some new churches participating in this production.
For anyone who chooses to drive through, they will hand out materials so that it is easier to follow along with each scene.
“We will have tracts that we’ll be handing out again so that everybody that does come through will leave with something in their hand. If they don’t come to the tent, they still leave with the opportunity of knowing how to be saved if they choose,” expressed Phillips. “For the people coming through in their own car, they’ll get a tract and a brochure kind of like what we did at Christmas. It’ll have the scripture of each scene and the churches that are providing each scene. We’re also going to try to get information from those that come like what church they attend or how they heard about it just so we can get a little more information about which of our marketing is working.”
They will also be doing another food drive.
“We’re still going to do the canned food drive in memory of Bro. Grady Crowell,” informed Phillips. “We had a very good turnout with that last time, and it really helped the local food pantry. We’re going to continue that.”
Along with the drive through scenes, they have great music and preaching lined up for tent revival services each night.
“The drive through is from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. We’ll have live music from 5:45 p.m. until 7:15 p.m.,” stated Phillips. “The tent revival will start at 7:30 each night. On Friday night, for music we have Brian and Emma Kate Williams, and for the message we have Bro. Danny Lanier. On Saturday night, for music we have Matthew Johnson and Marcus Linton with Couch in the Woods, and for the message we have Bro. Steve Pouncey from Antioch Baptist Church out of Louin. On Sunday night, for music we have Ms. Rhonda Kelly, and for the message we have Bro. Gary Rivers from Beulah Baptist Church in Decatur.”
They have the revival time set so that churches can still participate on Sunday night after their regular church services if they would like.
“We’re trying to encourage the churches to really support it,” declared Phillips. “On that Sunday night, we will not start the tent revival until 7:30. If there are churches that are still having night services, most of them are earlier or finished by 7:00 or so. We’re trying to encourage them that after church, or if they don’t have night service, to load up and carpool out to the farm and show up as a representation of your church as one body.”
The revival services are extremely important to them, and they are encouraged with the success of the last revival they had with Journey to Bethlehem.
“The very last night of the Christmas tent revival, we had our very first profession of faith,” proclaimed Phillips. “That was big. That made everything that we’ve been doing for the last two years all worth it to know that it reached somebody. We’re excited about that. We’re excited about what’s going to happen with this one, and maybe it’ll reach people so that they’ll get a deeper connection with Jesus or possibly salvation.”
For anyone that would like to donate to help with some of the expenses, there are different ways to do so.
“It is free to come to this, but we will be taking up donations at the tent at the end if anybody feels led to help cover the expenses for everything,” informed Phillips. “We also have a bank account set up for Journey Ministries, so if anybody feels led to donate, they can go make a donation at BankPlus to Journey Ministries.”
Come out on March 22 – March 24 to enjoy live scenes from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and a great tent revival service starting at 7:30 each night!
