As the Panthers lined up on the field, a lingering truth of the Panthers’ situation clung to the hearts of every player on the field: If the Panthers lost this game, the Panthers’ season would be over; however, if the Panthers won the game, the Panthers would move into the playoffs.
The game began with the ball being kicked to the Panthers’ 34 yard line by the Rangers. Akylin Dear pushed the ball to the Rangers 44 yard line and gained a first down for the Panthers. Jias Davis ran the ball to the Ranger 20 yard line, and junior running back Markerius ran to the 4 yard line on the Rangers’ territory. Dear scored the first touchdown of the game, but the PAT was bad.
The Panthers kicked the ball to the Rangers’ 45 yard line. The Rangers pushed back hard as they ran the ball to the 20 yard line on Panther territory. Dear gained control of the ball and ran it to the Panther 39 yard line. Harrison ran the ball to the Rangers’ 36 yard line.
In the second quarter, Dear scored another touchdown for the Panthers, but the attempted two point conversion was no good. The ball was pushed back into Panther territory, but when a Ranger fumbled the ball, it was Dexter Terrell who recovered the ball. A few plays later, another Ranger fumbled the ball to be recovered by freshman defensive end Isaiah Satcher. Harrison ran the ball to the Ranger 20 yard line. Dear scored a touchdown, but the two point conversion failed.
Before halftime, the Rangers scored a touchdown and had a successful PAT. The halftime score was Panthers 18 and Rangers 7.
Cameron kicked the ball off in the third and final quarters of the game. The ball stopped on the Ranger 35 yard line. The Rangers advanced to the Panthers’ 30 yard line before kicking a successful three point field goal against the Panthers. Dear ran the ball to the Ranger 2 yard line before scoring a touchdown for the Panthers. With a successful two point conversion from Dear, the Panthers added 8 points to their score.
Cameron kicked the ball to the Ranger 36 yard line. The Rangers punted the ball to the Panthers’ 40 yard line. Harrison gained control of the ball and ran it to the Rangers’ 15 yard line. Dear scored another touchdown, and Davis kicked a good PAT, adding 7 points for the Panthers.
Cameron kicked the ball to the Ranger 35 yard line, and Harrison pushed the ball to the 29 yard line. Sophomore wide receiver Terrell Doby passed the ball to Davis for another touchdown for the Panthers. Davis’ PAT was good, adding up the Panthers’ final score to 40. The Rangers scored one last touchdown with a good PAT by the end of the game.
The final Score of the game was Panthers 40 - Rangers 17.
The Panthers have now entered into playoffs and will face off against the Bay Saint Louis Tigers at Bay Saint Louis.
