After the recent passing of Dianne Holloman, the Clarke County Chamber of Commerce has decided to rename the Farmer’s Market to the Dianne Holloman Memorial Farmer’s Market.
The name change is only fitting to honor her life and the work she put in last year to create the Farmer’s Market.
“Someone suggested that we rename it for Dianne,” explained interim chamber of commerce secretary Ann Potuk. “She loved Clarke County. She loved the people of Clarke County, and she wanted to see Clarke County grow and prosper. When that suggestion was made, everybody thought it was a great idea that we rename it because she created it. She had tried to do it once before when she was president of the chamber, and it didn’t work out that time. She was determined that it was going to work. She did it, and it was a success. We’re going to do it again this year, and hopefully it’ll be something that we can continue and will be just as successful as last year.”
The first Dianne Holloman Memorial Farmer’s Market is set to take place on Saturday, April 27, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
While there is still time for vendors to choose to participate, they already know of some great vendors that plan to attend the event.
“We have handmade items, baked goods, informational booths, Friends of the Library will be selling used books, heirloom plants, homemade bread, jams and jellies, wood crafts, and eggs,” informed Potuk. “We don’t have any food vendors signed up yet, but I think we will have some.”
It is free for any vendors who would like to be part of the event. The only thing they request is that vendors contact the chamber and complete a registration form so that they know how many plans to attend so they can make sure there are enough spaces for everyone.
