Quitman High School has partnered with Legacy Learning and Career Management to allow some of the most precious students in the district to take center stage in the first ever Sparkle and Shine Pageant for the district on Friday, September 6, at 6:00 p.m.
“The stage at the QHS Auditorium will dazzle on Friday, September 6, at 6:00 p.m, as the first annual Sparkle and Shine Pageant gives individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities their moment in the spotlight,” declared Hannah Harlan with Quitman School District. “This event will celebrate the beauty, talent, and unique spirit of each participant, offering an evening filled with smiles, applause, and inspiration.”
The event is set to highlight the amazing talents and personalities of each student who participates and allows them to have their own moment to be seen, celebrated, and cheered on by their community.
While the pageant is a great way to show how amazing the special needs students are, it is also designed to help provide them with an opportunity to perform on a much larger scale as well.
“More than just a pageant, Sparkle and Shine is a celebration of inclusion,” added Harlan. “Proceeds and donations from the event will help send QJH/QHS self-contained classes to the Mississippi Special Olympics, giving these students the opportunity to shine on an even bigger stage.”
Going to the 2025 Mississippi Gulf Coast Special Olympics would provide these amazing students with an experience that encourages confidence, community, and creates lifelong memories for the students and those who have the privilege to watch them shine.
Everyone is invited to come to the Quitman High School Auditorium on September 6 at 6:00 p.m. and help support these amazing students through donations and encouragement as they enjoy a spectacular evening watching some of the district's greatest “Sparkle and Shine” on stage.
General admission for the event is $5, and reserved seating (first come first served) is $7. All tickets will be sold at the door on the day of the event.
