Enterprise faced off against the Union Yellowjackets Friday night on the road. The Bulldogs come off a 33-7 win over Morton and looked to keep the momentum going.
The game kicked off with a shared set of punts between the Bulldogs and Yellowjackets. Looking to avoid another punt, Enterprise goes for it on fourth and short from the EHS 46 but fails to convert. Off the failed conversion, Union drove down field and scored a touchdown with a PAT that fell short. The first quarter ended on a Bulldog punt as Enterprise trailed, 6-0.
The second quarter opened up with the Yellowjackets taking advantage of the Enterprise punt with a long touchdown drive and a successful two-point conversion. Down 14 late in the second, the Bulldogs blocked the Union punt to set the offense up at the UHS 21. With 27 seconds on the clock, Senior Cooper Galyean stepped back to pass and connects with wide open Junior Zee Sims for a touchdown. On Union's first play to end the half, the Yellowjackets fumbled, and Enterprise recovered at the UHS 20. Despite the last-minute efforts by the Bulldogs, Union picked off Enterprise at the goal line to end the half. Union lead the Bulldogs 14-7 at the half.
The second half opened up with an Enterprise punt that pinned the Yellowjackets at their own ten yard line. Stepping back to pass, Union threw right into the hands of Junior Ridge Jackson to set up a Bulldog first and goal. The Yellowjacket defense held strong and forces Senior Trace Roy to split the uprights for three. Union responded quickly, however, as they scored a long passing touchdown with a missed PAT. The Third quarter ends with Union leading 20-10.
The fourth quarter opened up with Cooper Galyean connecting with Junior Jackarius Pickens to put Enterprise at the Yellowjacket 10. Union’s defense held strong again, and Trace Roy kicked another field goal for three. Enterprise fumbled after a Union punt and the Yellowjackets recovered, and then scored a touchdown with a good PAT the next play. The Bulldogs were picked off on a last-minute drive, and Union kneeled out the 27-13 upset.
Enterprise faced a physical Union team in a hostile environment but came up short. The Bulldogs fall to 6-1 on the season and 1-1 in district play. Enterprise faces the 6-1 Clarkdale Bulldogs Friday night on the road at 7:00 pm. Come and support the Dawgs!
