Calvin Elliott Riley, 98, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away on April 30, 2023, at his residence.
He was born on March 28, 1925, to Charles and Doffie (Young) Riley in Quitman, MS.
Calvin was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Quitman, Mississippi. He also served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of The Clarke County Baptist Association where he served in numerous meals during the Hurricane Katrina support effort. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, drilling water wells, and giving to his community.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Wilma Holloman Riley; four sons, Ray (Wanda) Riley, Rodney (Jayne) Riley, Randy (Dianne) Barnes, and Bill Holloman; three daughters, Brenda Dearman, Shirley (Ed Jr.) Taylor, and Christy (Harold) McDaniel; three brothers, Wayne (Norma) Riley, Carey (Jennifer) Riley, and Jack Riley; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Calvin Riley; mother, Doffie Lucille Riley; first wife, Frances Geneva Riley; son, James E. Riley; brother, Lem David Riley; and sister, Evelyn Elizabeth Dearman.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 5, 2023, after10:00 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Coats officiating.
Burial will take place in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
