On October 6, 2024, Joe Norsworthy very suddenly and unexpectedly went home to be with Jesus. He passed from life on earth, traveled through the veil of physical death and arrived instantly at home in heaven. We are shocked and saddened at our loss but are confident in his place in heaven.
Joe was husband to Carol Ann for 61 years, being married on October 5, 1963. They were married in Quitman and immediately moved to Texas for work for a brief period before returning to Quitman to again find work and begin raising a family. He worked 35 years for Georgia Pacific, retiring in 1999. Shortly after that, Joe and Carol Ann began a series of adventures traveling throughout the country, seeing lots of interesting places, and of course Papa Joe talked with many people along the way.
Joe was a people person who seemed to never meet a stranger and was known to gauge the success of his walks by the number of people that he got to stop and talk with as opposed to distance or time. He was quick with a laugh or smile and always tried to make sure everyone around him was okay. Joe was a fierce protector of his family and demonstrated a remarkable love for them. To be in Joe's family was to know you were cared for in word and deed. He was also known as one who served and helped other people. Most of all, he loved taking care of his Carol Ann. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Prayers for the family over the coming days are very much appreciated.
Joe is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Norsworthy; son, Joey (Lisa) Norsworthy; daughter, Joy Green; three grandchildren, Paul (Alex) Norsworthy, Abby Norsworthy, and Mary Kathryn Green; niece, Michelle (Blake) Price; and nephew, Robby (Dawn) Early.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Evan and Onie A Norsworthy; grandson, Tyler Kevin Green; and brother, Doug Norsworthy.
