Funeral services for Peggy Louise Scott Pearson, age 79, of Quitman, MS, were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 29, 2024, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Reverend Bob Ramsey and Reverend Ryan Flynt officiating. Visitation was held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment followed the service at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Melvin, AL.
Mrs. Pearson was born February 23, 1944, in Clarke County, MS, to J.G. Scott and Evelyn Denham Scott. She passed away Friday, January 26, 2024, at her residence in Quitman, MS.
Mrs. Peggy was an avid seamstress, proficient in all needlework. She was a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities over the years, some of which were church clerk, Sunday school teacher, and director of WMU. She worked in the Quitman School District as cashier in the cafeteria until her retirement.
She is survived by her husband, William “Worm” Pearson, Jr. of Quitman, MS; son, James “Jim Bob” Pearson (Terry) of Quitman, MS; daughter, Melinda “Lindy” Flynt (Ronald) of Hickory, NC; sister, Sally Scott Morgan of Quitman, MS; sisters-in-law, Terri Scott of Campti, LA, and Doris Scott of Quitman, MS; grandchildren, Ryan Flynt, Taylor Tew, Jamie Pearson, Anna Pearson, and Keely Flynt; great grandchildren, Addie Grace Pearson, Eli Flynt, Baylor Flynt, Jax Tew, Will Pearson, and Wylder Barron; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Gerald Scott; mother, Lee Evelyn Denham Scott; brothers, William Colie Scott, Thomas Ray Scott, and Bobby Lee Scott; sister, Deborah Anne Scott; and nephew, Scottie Edward Morgan.
Serving as pallbearers were Andy Morgan, Ronnie Morgan, Allen Pearson, John Griffith, Greg Fletcher, and John Alvin Turner.
