Clarke County was recently blessed with some rain, but it is not enough to lift the burn ban.
“We are still under a burn ban,” stated Fire Coordinator Bradley McNeese. “Citations will still be issued for those caught burning.”
Burning anything at this time can still lead to widespread fires, putting volunteer firemen and homes in unnecessary danger.
Anything that has an open flame that can produce an ember is not allowed during a burn ban since the wind can carry floating embers away from the original fire and start a fire up to a half-mile away from the original burning area.
The following are strictly prohibited during a burn ban:
• Campfires
• Bonfires
• Fire pits
• Fire rings
• Burn barrels
• Debris burning
• Field burning
Please do not burn anything while the burn ban is in effect!
