Eugene "Huey" Lee, 89, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away on June 2, 2025, at his residence.
He was born on August 31, 1935, to Robert and Lena (Mozingo) Lee in Wayne County, MS.
Huey was a longtime member at Rolling Creek Baptist Church. He worked all of his life as an automobile mechanic.

Shots Fired in Quitman on April 4 Update

Since the incident involving shots being fired on Thompson Avenue in Quitman occurred on April 4, officers have been investigating and doing their best to locate the shooters.
Although the investigation is far from over, there has been an arrest made in relation to the case.

City of Quitman Will Not Have a Tax Increase

Taxpayers in the City of Quitman should not see an increase in taxes for the upcoming fiscal year. In the new budget, the aldermen intend to maintain a millage rate of 32.02 mils for the city. That millage rate includes 1 mil for operating the library and .25 mils to operate the fire department.
