Jones falls to Northwest in region title game

Jones College's quest for an NJCAA Region 23 Championship and automatic bid to the national tournament came up short Friday night at Freedom Ridge Park, 3-0, to third-ranked Northwest.

The Rangers, 17-1-1, the defending national champions, won their third straight region championship.

Joshua Goodwin’s (Oak Grove) save in the eighth round of penalty kicks lifted Jones to a fourth NJCAA Region 23 Championship in program history, 1-1 (8-7 PK), over Hinds Friday afternoon at Freedom Ridge Park.

Tied 1-1 through 110 minutes, the match would be determined by penalty kicks.
