The Delight of the Dunnam Reunions
I can smell Clarkco State Park. Now you might think that's a funny thing to say, but have you ever been to a Dunnam Family Reunion? I'm sure that should you slide over that way this year, you will understand why my nose wiggles from Wednesday through Saturday that famous fourth weekend in August. Descendants of Josh and Frankie Dunnam start driving in early in the week to set up camp, slide into old home places and bask in the beauty of the simple life and eat like crazy. Town is put on hold. Life stops as we celebrate where we came from.
This year I will FINALLY go back to my heart home after COVID tried to put a stop to it. For almost 100 years, the Dunnams have been drawn back to Clarkco under the little awning on those hot August nights. Shrimp, potlucks and food a plenty is never wasted as the reunion winds down to the talent show on Saturday night. I can't wait to pound the pavement at the park as we drive over from Louisiana and drive into family.
I thought I might let all of you know that on August 25, 26 and 27th the population of Quitman will increase as the Dunnams role into town. I am excited to see Clarkco full of cousins again as we leave behind a world full of chaos even if only for a weekend.....
Now we wait for that fabulous weekend....
