William David West, 66, of Shubuta, Mississippi, passed away on August 16, 2023, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS.
He was born on February 4, 1957, to William and Clara Belle (Mixon) West in Meridian, MS.
David was a longtime member and deacon at the Shubuta Baptist Church in Shubuta, MS. He enjoyed his favorite past time of Team Roping, where he met many longtime friends, and all knew him as "Big Cowboy"! He was a loving husband, father, and very proud "granddaddy" that found his biggest enjoyment in spending time with his grandchildren. "Big Cowboy" was a friend to everyone that he ever met.
David is survived by his wife, Beverly Haney West; daughter, Casey (Bryan) Kyle; three grandchildren, Will, Whitley, and Addie Jo; and brother, Danny West.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Luther West, Jr. and mother, Clara Belle West.
Visitation was be held Sunday, August 20, 2023, after 5:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Graveside services were held on Monday, August 21, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church (West) with Rev. Michael Street officiating.
Burial took place in the Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery (West).
Pallbearers were Larry Waller, William Richardson, Mike Boyles, John Blackburn, Lee Blackburn and Harrison "Squirt" Cook. Honorary pallbearers were Butch Jenkins, Danny West, Clarence Willis and Roy Higdon.
