Mindi McCollough is the Valedictorian for Quitman High School.
She is extremely active in school and is involved in the student council, HOSA, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society (NHS), National Technical Honor Society (NTHS), Beta Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). She has held various leadership positions over the years, including HOSA president, HOSA vice president, FBLA historian, Beta Club historian, Beta Club vice president, and the student council class secretary one year.
Along with the various clubs, she has also been an avid athlete at the school. She played softball for four years, soccer for three years, and ran cross country for one year.
She made a lot of great memories over the years.
“My favorite memory is being at softball, playing Bugatti ball, and pregame pitching with Keeleigh,” recalled Mindi.
There are things she enjoys doing outside of school as well.
“I play pickleball,” expressed Mindi. “I like to ride around with my friends. I like to talk to my friends. I like to fish.”
Now that she has graduated, she has plans to continue her education so that she can have her dream career.
“I’m attending the University of Mississippi for four years in the fall. I’m majoring in biological science,” declared Mindi. “When I graduate from there, I’m going to go to optometry school at University of Birmingham. I want to be an optician because I want to help people with their confidence in a way that is overlooked a lot. Vision is important in everyday life and is often overlooked by a lot of people.”
With her experience over the years, she does have some advice for underclassmen.
“The good times will outweigh the bad times,” advised Mindi. “Just keep moving forward.”
With her dedication and strong work ethic, Mindi is sure to be successful with her future endeavors.
