Rodney Paul McCarra, 89, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away on May 9, 2025, at his residence.
He was born on September 28, 1935, to Floyd and Ola (Hayes) McCarra in Quitman, MS.
Rodney loved spending time outdoors from working in his yard to his favorite pass time "Gone Fishin’!"
Rodney is survived by his son, Harry Lamar (Kathy) McCarra; daughter, Jackie Anita (James Ronald) Ivy; five grandchildren, Jennifer Leeann (J. J.) Abston, David Matthew (Jolene) Harrison, Traci Michelle (Patrick) Johnson, Jason (Megan) McCarra, and Ashley (Adam) Beasley; nine great- grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three sisters, Lucille (Robert) Dearman, Nina (Charles) Boswell, and Faye McCarra; brother, Cletius McCarra; and several nieces nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Asbury McCarra; mother, Ola Levenia McCarra; wife, Bessie Mae McCarra; grandson, Matthew Paul McCarra; four brothers, Bernice Bryant "Bunk" McCarra, Floyd Horace "Curl" McCarra, Ralph A. McCarra, and Percy Prentiss McCarra; and two sisters, Agnes Maxine Broadhead and Jewel Boozer.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at the Hebron Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Joe Gullick officiating.
Burial was in Hebron Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
