Quitman is thrilled to welcome a new restaurant, Tokyo Hibachi Express, to town. The amazing restaurant, owned by Hendry Liu and Dimitrie Stiawan, hosts a brilliant selection of Japanese cuisine.
They have been planning to open a restaurant in their current location, 109 West Donald Street next to Speakeasy Wine and Spirits, for a while now.
“Originally, we already have one in Laurel that is also called Tokyo. When they tried to open another one, we were looking for the location, and we already had the building right here,” explained Dimitrie. “Originally, they planned to open a Chinese buffet, but we changed our mind after counting the employees and everything. We decided to open another hibachi but express style. We knew Quitman doesn’t have a hibachi style restaurant and decided it would be a great location for us.”
The food they serve is exquisite, and everyone who has eaten there since they opened has enjoyed it. They have a variety of food to choose from, including sushi, hibachi, and fried rice dishes.
“We serve Japanese food,” informed Hendry Liu. “We have a hibachi, which is the grilled food. Between hibachi and fried rice, we sell two different kinds of food. Hibachi comes with the rice and a grilled vegetable on the side. Fried rice is the one where the rice is mixed together with the meat. A lot of people get confused between the two.”
Although there is still a sign at the top of the building that says Panda for the Chinese restaurant that was originally coming, the sign will soon be replaced. Until then, there are signs on the window indicating that the restaurant name is Tokyo Express.
The restaurant is open on Sunday-Thursday from 11:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. For any questions or to make a call-in order, simply call 601-776-1350.
Come out and enjoy the great food at Tokyo Hibachi Express!
