The 3S Cowboy Church in Enterprise successfully transformed an old sawmill into their church building this past week. The church is a non-traditional church who welcomes anyone who comes to the church.
“We don’t care if people show up with whiskey on their breath or cow mess on their boots. We have a no barrier approach to the Lord,” explained Pastor Tony Chancelor. “There are a lot of people disenfranchised with a traditional church for different reasons. We’re not traditional here.”
3S Cowboy Church officially started six years ago, but according to Pastor Tony, “God established this church at the beginning of time. He knew what was going to take place. We’re just trying to be obedient by repurposing this building for worship.”
The church was originally made up of just two walls, and they had been covering the two ends with tarps during the winter. The church is now closed in on all sides with large areas for roll up doors so that they can still bring in horses and have a cross breeze flow through the church on nice days. They have an open stage with a ramp leading up to it.
“I wanted the ramp because I want to be able to ride my horse up on the stage, and it can be used for wheelchair access and hauling equipment on and off the stage,” stated Pastor Tony Chancelor.
The church has also gained two things that it hasn’t had in the two years since they purchased the old sawmill: indoor restrooms and air conditioning.
The church was blessed with help on the major renovation project. BarNone Cowboy Church from Texas is a sponsor for 3S Cowboy Church, and they sent out a crew of 30-40 people who diligently worked on the church the whole week. Men and women of all ages took time out of their usual schedules to come help with the project. They have wanted to help with the project for a couple of years, but God has just recently opened the doors to make that dream a reality.
“It’s not about any of us. It’s all about God and moving forward,” said Danny Menges, Associate Pastor and administrator for BarNone Cowboy Church. “It’s pretty exciting to get to see what God is doing.”
They made sure to keep their focus on God the entire week of building. Each morning, they would start by having a short devotion and prayer time before getting to work.
Their work paid off, and by Saturday night, the church sponsored an open house so that anyone from the surrounding communities could come and see all the work that had taken place and witness the extreme transformation.
The church looks great and still has plenty of opportunity for even more growth in the future. Come out and visit 3S Cowboy Church and see the amazing things that are happening at the church.
