Given the loss of the final game, the Panther’s returned home concluding their season with a loss of only 6 games and triumph of 6 wins. “I think the Panthers played hard this season, but overall we performed well. At the end of the day, we’ve got to get better and that's exactly what we are going to do for the next season.” Said Head Coach Rashad Gandy. The season started off with the Panther’s Faced off against the Wayne county War Eagles, where the panther’s came closer than they have in over 20 years of ending the War Eagle’s winning streak against the Panthers. The final score of the game was 35 - 28 and made for the first loss of the season for the Panthers. The next game was against the Heidelberg Oilers where the Panthers defeated them 35 - 0. The Panthers faced win after win, but then the Panthers faced loss after loss. Enterprise, Northeast Jones, Mendenhall, and Newton County were all lost games. Many called for the resignation of Coach Gandy. “I accept those expectations, I understand everyone wants a winning product that the community can be proud of, after a loss we go back to the drawing board to plan our next attack.” The plan worked. As the team faced off against Richland, the team would face a season changing fact. If the Panthers won, they would enter the first round of playoffs; however, if they failed to win the game, the team would hang their helmets and prepare for the next year. The Panthers made it to the playoffs after winning the game against Richland 42 - 6. The Panthers made it to the third round of playoffs with Quitman facing Mendenall again for that third round of playoffs, but lost without a chance to score in the game. “We didn't come to lose, but at the end of the day, when I look back at our season and see what our kids have done, I can't help but be proud of these young individuals.” Two weeks later, Coach Gandy was training the team for next year. “Next year we are going to have a very competitive team that will compete on a higher level than our previous season.” Coach Gandy concluded the interview with a heartfelt message to his seniors. “If you think losing your last football game is going to be the worst thing that has ever happened to you, look forward to having a great life. You have so much more to look forward to.”
