Scottie Scheffler dominated the British Open with a final round 68 to finish 17-under-par. The Texas native won the PGA earlier this year and the Masters in 2022, and with a win in the U.S. Open, he will become the seventh golfer in history to complete the Grand Slam.

The top story in Mississippi sports last week was the loss of USM’s beloved women’s basketball coach Joye-Lee McNelis, who passed away last Tuesday. McNelis was battling her third stint with lung cancer. She retired in March concluding her 34-year head coaching career.

The ESPN computer has generated total wins for several of the major college football conferences for the upcoming season. The SEC predictions have Texas and Georgia each winning ten games while Alabama and Tennessee will each win nine games. ESPN has Ole Miss winning eight games, along with Texas A&M and LSU.
