“I’ve heard the saying growing up, but it was never really a reality to me at the time. Life is like a vapor, and before you know it, it’s over,” advised Chris Read. “Spend every minute and every moment you can enjoying the life that you have and the family that you have because, once again, before you know it, you’ll look back and say, ‘Where’s my life gone?’”

With the recent interstate accident leading to monkeys on the loose in our community, it’s too bad I didn’t think of this mental health principle earlier. Asian hunters have a unique way of capturing monkeys. They cut a small hole in a gourd and place some food inside. There is barely enough space for the monkey’s hand to fit through the hole to grab the food. The gourd is firmly attached to the ground. Once the monkey grasps the food with a clinched fist, its hand is too big to pull out.

For just a moment, think back in time to the hills of Judea on that first Christmas eve and put yourself in the place of the shepherds One of the things that impresses me in the Christmas message is the upward and downward effect of Christ’s mission revealed in the message of the angelic hosts, “Glory to God, Peace to men.” I was reading some of the sermons written by T. DeWitt Talmage and came across this thought: “When the Father sent his Son into the world, the angelic hosts saw something they had never seen or known before in their Creator.

“Know that everybody can learn,” advised Cary Richardson. “So often, I feel like people see a student that’s struggling and think that they’ll never amount to anything or can’t do something. Everyone can learn, no matter who it is. They can learn, and they can succeed. It’s just that everybody’s definition of success is different.”
