Margaret Janese Mace, 64, of Stonewall, Mississippi, passed away on February 18, 2026, at Baptist/Anderson Hospital in Meridian, MS.
She was born on January 20, 1962, to Collins and Catherine (Logan) Taylor in Quitman, MS.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Gerald Mace; sons, Lee (Cindy) Vreeland, Joshua (Brittnay) Vreeland, and Dylan (Rafael Burns) Vreeland; sisters, Connie Dearman and Kathy Rainey; and four grandchildren.

The Quitman Woman’s Club proudly celebrated its 100th year as a federated member in February 2026. Organized and federated in February 1926, the club began its legacy of service under the leadership of its first president, Mrs. W.C. (Effie) Couch.
For a century, the Quitman Woman’s Club has been a dedicated member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the Mississippi Federation of Women’s Clubs, whose mission is personal enrichment leading to volunteer service that benefits the community, state, nation, and world.

An excellent medical column in The Washington Post predicts the next target in Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s anti-vaccine campaign. At the same time, the column debunks the claim that this target is hazardous to children’s health.
Dr. Leana S. Wen, an emergency physician and clinical associate professor at George Washington University, believes Kennedy, the Health and Human Services secretary, may seek the removal of “aluminum salts” from vaccines. He claims this ingredient can cause conditions from autism to asthma to food allergies.

Marcel Chauvin
Marcel Chauvin, age 66, drowned in an old gravel pit near Enon on Tuesday of last week after the kayak he was fishing from flipped. A witness said that after the kayak flipped Chauvin tried to get back in but his hand slipped and he went underwater and did not re-surface.
The gravel pit where the drowning occurred is very close to the Bogue Chitto River.
Efforts to rescue Chauvin were unsuccessful. The accident occurred about noon on Tuesday and his body was recovered from the gravel pit Tuesday evening.
