Two Quitman players and Coach Josh Pulphus have been selected for an incredible honor!
Brytyavis Dear and Semaj McKenzie have been named All-Star players and will represent Quitman in the 2025 Bernard Blackwell North/South All-Star Football Game.
That’s not all… Coach Josh Pulphus has been selected as a South All-Star coach!

The Clarke County Chamber of Commerce was proud to award Quitman Small Engines as the Business of the Month for November 2025.
Quitman Small Engine & Repairs originally purchased the business in 2019 from Sonny Young before building a new building for it at their current location, 101 North Railroad Avenue in Quitman.
They carry Skag, Husqvarna, and eXmark mowers, as well as the full line of Stihl products and parts. Anything that is needed to take care of the lawn, they should have.

A graveside service for James Michael “Mike” Odom was held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Stonewall Cemetery with Bro. Ed Shoemaker officiating. Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes were honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Mr. Odom, 54, of Stonewall, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
Mike is survived by his mother, Nettie Vaughn (James B. Vaughn Jr.); brother, Keith Odom (D’aunn); sisters, Edie Hamrick (Chuck), Stephanie Messina, and Misty Smith (Alan); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Faye Gunn Adams, age 67, of Gilbertown, AL, were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Kendall Turner officiating. Visitation was held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment followed in the Barrytown Cemetery.
Mrs. Adams passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in Meridian, MS. She was born on September 6, 1958, in Quitman, MS, to Edwin Lamar and Mary Jo Smith Gunn.

Quitman Mayor Chris Reeves was honored to be the Grand Marshal for the Christmas Parade in Quitman this year.
He was humbled by the experience, and he intends to do everything he can to demonstrate that he was worthy of the privilege of being Grand Marshal along with his elected position.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics recently released their State Employment and Unemployment Summary for September of 2025.
Unemployment rates were higher in September in 8 states, lower in 2 states, and stable in 40 states and the District of Columbia, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Eighteen states and the District had jobless rate increases from a year earlier, 9 states had decreases, and 23 states had little change.

The Senior Citizen Nutrition Program, located at 102 Dabbs Street in Quitman, has officially re-opened.
The Senior Citizens Building is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Fellowshipping and spending time with others to help senior citizens have something to do outside the house is their main goal. Anyone 60 and older is more than welcome to come and just socialize with others and play some games.
They also have a nice hot meal that they provide for lunch.

“If you don’t have Christ in your life, you’re missing out,” advised Judy McNeil. “He completes you. He makes you whole. He stands beside you and lifts you up when you fall down. He is everything. Just be happy. Don’t sit around and worry about stuff all the time.”
Over the years, Judy McNeil has discovered just how vital God is in her life. She feels blessed and gives Him the credit for helping her overcome many of the obstacles she has faced.
She has always had a large family and has many wonderful memories with them from the time she was just a young girl.

The enthusiasm only increased when they learned that one of their amazing teachers, Sara Rucker, was being presented the Golden Apple Award.

Guarding spiritual intimacy, is about guarding your personal relationship with Christ; which means treating your relationship with Jesus as something precious, personal, and not to be neglected or cheapened. Much like intimacy in human relationships, spiritual intimacy requires time, attention, and intentionality. May I suggest a few things a person can do to guard their relationship with Christ? First, don’t let distractions erode your spiritual focus.
