Kick off the New Year with a hike at Clarkco State Park. Hiking is a great way to improve your physical and mental health while enjoying the outdoors! First Day Hikes are part of a nationwide initiative led by America’s State Parks to encourage people to get outdoors. On New Year’s Day, hundreds of kids and adults all across America will be participating in First Day Hikes, getting their hearts pumping and enjoying the beauty of a state park. Last year nearly 55,000 people rang in the New Year, collectively hiking over 133,000 miles throughout the country!

Hayden was born in Meridian, MS, on November 6, 2007, to the proud parents of Dusty and Renee' Griffin. He is an awesome big brother to Jackson Griffin. Hayden is a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Rose Hill. He is proud to say he has been a bulldog his whole life at Enterprise School District. He is part of the FCA Lead team. His hobbies include fishing and, of course, baseball.

Henry is a three-sport athlete with a 4.0 GPA from Enterprise High School. He is a member of his school’s golf team, soccer team, and baseball team.
Henry took up golf less than two years ago, but it has quickly become his favorite sport. The Enterprise Golf Team, coached by Kyle Barrett, won first place in their district this season. Individually, Henry also placed first in district with a season low score of 73. He attributes his success to Coach Barrett and his golf instructor, Abigail Evans, of Laurel Country Club.

Reese Parker is a Senior at Enterprise High School where she is in the BETA club and President of HOSA. Reese has a GPA of 4.12 while also keeping up with her three sports: cheer, soccer, and tennis.
Soccer has been a crucial part in Reese’s life since the 8th grade, and she will continue her academic and athletic career at Meridian Community College playing for Coach Mike Smith.

Saylee Perry attends EHS where she is a member of the BETA Club, serves as FCCLA president, and maintains a 3.8 GPA. Saylee is a three-sport athlete, participating in Volleyball, Soccer, and Softball at EHS. She has played softball for 13 years and will continue to play for two more years under Brad Grinstead at Meridian Community College.

At the regularly scheduled meeting for the Quitman Board of Aldermen on December 16, Quitman Police Chief Chris Read addressed the board to provide an update on how things were going with the Grand Jury so far.
He started by informing the board how much he appreciates all the trust and support they have provided since he first started his position as chief.

Enterprise Volleyball celebrated the 2025 season with an awards ceremony last week. These girls finished the season with a record of 18-6 and made it to the third round of MHSAA playoffs. This season, the volleyball team won district for the second consecutive year in a row with a perfect 8-0 record. While competing in division play, the varsity Lady Bulldogs did not drop a single set and held their opponents to under ten points in twelve sets. Overall, the EHS volleyball team had a strong season and hope to continue their success entering into next year.

Brytyavis Dear has played football since he started playing as a midget.
One of his favorite things while playing has just been his teammates, and his time on the field has meant a lot to him.
“I’ve love just playing with my guys,” declared Brytyavis. “It’s meant everything playing with them.”
Coach Pulphus knows Brytyavis will achieve great things in college with the skills he has witnessed so far.

Trey Ivy has been playing football since he started as a rookie.
Through the years he’s played, he has made many great memories with his teammates. He’s worked hard alongside his team to improve each day.
“My favorite memories are really just playing with my guys and making playoff runs,” stated Trey. “I work very hard in the weight room and go outside every day to prepare for games.”
Coach Pulphus is proud of the growth Trey has demonstrated.

De’Quavion Smith has enjoyed playing football since he was six years old.
He has worked hard to improve himself each year, and he and his teammates have made some amazing memories together over his high school career.
“I worked hard every day. My teammates and coaches pushed me,” proclaimed De’Quavion. “My favorite memories are just spending time with my teammates outside of football. We had long practices.”
Coach Pulphus believes in his ability on the field and is proud of his accomplishments.

Caleb Johnson has enjoyed his football career at Quitman and is excited for the opportunity to continue to grow.
“I started in the eighth grade, but I didn’t really start playing much until my junior year,” explained Caleb. “I’m still kind of new to the sport. The rest of these guys have been playing since they were like five years old. I’m still kind of new to the sport and have a lot more to learn.”
He has made some great memories with his team since he started playing.
