Dr. Nancy L. Kliesch, retired pediatrician, 88, passed peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at her home in Ridgeland, MS. Dr. Kliesch was born November 9, 1937 in Franklinton, LA, the daughter of Eddie & Elsie Kliesch.

George Evon Ladner, 95, a resident of the Pine Community passed away Thursday morning February 5, 2026 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was born in Poplarville, MS August 1. 1930 and was a longtime active member of Pine Missionary Baptist Church. Evon worked in the Gaylord Bag Plant in Bogalusa for many years and later retired after a career on the local bridge crew for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Ethelyn King Sharp, 83, a resident of Franklinton passed away Friday morning February 6, 2026 at her residence. She worked for Rutter Rex for many years and after retirement she still enjoyed sewing for her family. She loved to cook for her family. Her pastime was spent visiting with family and friends.

Jason Monroe Duncan, 42, a resident of Mount Hermon passed away peacefully Friday February 6, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Bogalusa on January 23, 1984 and attended Mount Hermon High School. Jason began his career as an iron worker before becoming a deckhand on tugboats. He served with Bisso Marine and most recently C.P. Marine, traveling up and down the Mississippi River. He had recently received his boat pilot’s license, an accomplishment he was very proud of. Jason was talented with his hands and always kept them busy.

Tommy “Lightweight” Magee, 65 a resident of Franklinton passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026 at his residence.
Tommy loved God. He loved sharing his testimony in hopes it would help someone. He always felt that is why God kept him here-to help others. He knew he made mistakes and truly wanted to help others walk a different path.

Stanley Lydonis Rowell, 62, a resident of the Thomas Community passed away Monday evening January 26, 2026 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was a painter that began a long career as a young man working for his uncle T.C. Hunt, before retiring. Stanley enjoyed hunting and had taken a few trips with family and friends to other states, including Colorado for an elk hunt. He always enjoyed spending time with his family, especially around the holidays, and loved eating delicious meals with them every chance he could.

Martha Vernell Corkern Seal, 95, a resident of Amite passed away Monday morning January 19, 2026 at her home. She was born on May 8, 1930. Vernell was a longtime member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church where she taught the Ladies Sunday School class. She liked gardening for vegetables and taking care of her pretty flower beds. She was an excellent cook and loved preparing a delicious Sunday dinner for her family, with biscuits, cornbread and the wonderful candied sweet potatoes being just some of their favorites.

Shirley Ann Boyette Myers, 81, was born in Winnsboro, Louisiana, on October 5, 1944, and passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026 at her home in Franklinton, Louisiana. Shirley graduated from South Natchez High School in 1962 and married the love of her life. She spent time raising her family before owning and operating Myers Grocery located north of Franklinton. Shortly after closing the grocery store, she began an in-home daycare service. Throughout this time she provided care for many children in the Franklinton area where she was affectionately known as “Maw Maw Shirley”.

Reilly Stephen Berger, 18, a resident of Piedmont, South Carolina passed away Sunday night January 18, 2026. He was born in Zachary, Louisiana on February 8, 2007. Reilly enjoyed playing youth sports, including baseball, before settling into wrestling for his local club team. He was a Class of 2025 graduate of Woodmont High School, where he was a proud member of the Wildcats wrestling team, and participated in many tournaments and state matches. Reilly enjoyed archery and loved hanging out with his friends.

Juanita Jenkins, age 86, a beloved resident of the Enon community in Franklinton, LA, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at the home of her niece, Kathy. She was born on November 9, 1939, in Tylertown, MS, to Walter Wesley Whitehead and Eva Viola Granger Whitehead. Juanita was one of the oldest and last surviving of their 14 children.

Leslie Katherine Thomas Dillon, 64, a resident of the Thomas Community passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at her home Sunday January 18, 2026 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was a Class of 1979 graduate of Pine High School, where she was selected as Homecoming Queen in 1978. Kathy worked as a teller for Hancock/Whitney Bank at the Bogalusa, Poplarville, Picayune and Franklinton branches for several years. She always enjoyed going to the races at dirt tracks around the area.

Kevin John Novitzky a resident of Bogalusa, Louisiana passed away peacefully at his home on January 14, 2026. He was born July 2, 1952 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to the late Evelyn and John Novitzky. Kevin was an Air Force Veteran and an avid plane enthusiast. He has always been a lover of history and all things aerospace.

Willene Graves Magee Creel, 90, a resident of the Lawrence Creek Community passed away Monday afternoon January 12, 2026 at Good Samaritan Living Center. She was a longtime member of Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church and active in the Women’s Sunday school class. Earlier in life, she enjoyed traveling, visiting states throughout the country and had gone on several cruises. Willene liked to go out to eat with her friends and always loved spending time with her family.

Earl J. Rothermel of Aztec, New Mexico passed away on January 13, 2026, in Aztec, New Mexico. Earl was born June 22, 1938, in Monroe, Louisiana to Earl & Ruth Rotermel.
Earl met the love of his life, Betty at work in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1958 and married her later that year. Together they built a beautiful family with 3 daughters Cindy, Debbie and Becky.
Earl's work brought him to New Mexico, a place he called God's country. Earl was proceeded in death by his parents, Earl & Ruth, and his son-in-law William Taylor.
