Farrell C. Holliday, 79, a resident of Franklinton passed away Wednesday December 24, 2025 at his home. He was retired after a long career at Rutter Rex in Franklinton. He was the mechanic and maintenance man for the many sewing machines for the company. Farrell enjoyed working with his hands and could repair just about anything, including lawnmowers, golf carts, other small engines and even cars. He loved gardening and planted a huge vegetable garden each year then gave away much of what he grew to his family and neighbors.

Vivian Janice Morgan Robertson, 83, a resident of the Canaan Community passed away Friday morning December 19, 2025. She was a member of both Bethel Baptist Church and also later a member of Canaan Baptist Church near Stoney Point. Janice was born and lived in Franklinton her whole life. She attended Franklinton High School and was in the class of 1960. She worked at several businesses over the years in Franklinton including for the former Judge Francis “Budge” Watts III, WST Electric, and for the State of Louisiana OCS Department. One of her biggest passions was food.

Shirley Goodman, 89, a resident of the Franklinton Community passed away Friday morning December 19, 2025.
She very much enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting. Shirley loved spending time with her grandkids. She often watched the news and her favorite show “90 Day Fiancée.”

Dorothy Rae Baham, age 75, a longtime resident of Loranger passed away Friday December 19, 2025 at her home. She was born on May 16, 1950 and was raised near Franklinton. She worked as a secretary in the Tangipahoa Clerk of Court office for many years and also served in different attorney’s offices through the years. Dorothy enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, often tending to her flower beds. She always loved fishing and drinking her Coca-Cola or coffee while swinging on the porch. Earlier in life, Dorothy enjoyed going with family to the dirt track races around the area.

James Robert Singleton, 89 a resident of Franklinton passed away Wednesday morning December 10, 2025. He worked in the sales, service and parts industry for tractors and large trucks nearly all his life. James worked at and managed businesses in the Franklinton area and also managed a tractor dealership near Baton Rouge for many years. He opened Singleton Equipment, now known as Singleton Sales & Service, near his home in Franklinton in 1981 and worked alongside his family for over 20 years until retiring.

Donald “Don” Slaven died at his home on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, surrounded by family members and loved ones. He was born on June 9, 1941, in Mt. Hermon, LA where he was a lifelong resident. At an early age, Don learned to hunt and fish and not just for fun but for subsistence. He loved to wade the local creeks for bass and tightline or set limb hooks for catfish on the Bogue Chitto and Tangipahoa Rivers. He would later pass on his knowledge and love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. Don graduated from Mt. Hermon High School in 1959.
