The banner is across from the courthouse in downtown Franklinton.
Although an arrest was made last month in the 2017 murder of Donna Arceneaux, a downtown Franklinton banner related to the murder isn't coming down soon.
The banner was put in place several years ago by Tucker Simmons, a Franklinton native whose podcast was credited by law enforcement with helping to draw attention and keep attention on the murder during the long time frame between when Ms Arceneaux was killed and when an arrest occurred. The murder happened in her Highway 16 home immediately south of Franklinton.

Town of Franklinton officials are hopeful that a a lengthy downtown detour will soon be history.

Some of Provost’s family members have been concerned for months about him. A welfare check conducted by law enforcement last year went nowhere when he could not be located, yet there was no hard evidence showing that anything had happened to him.

Sitting in church, they announced the upcoming Sunday would be Promotion Sunday. First Baptist Church of Covington is a very large campus. The kindergarteners would be moving into a different building. The junior high students would be moving upstairs, and the high school students would be moving downstairs. To some, these announcements may have gone unnoticed, but I remembered this as a child as if it were yesterday. This is perhaps because my mother was often the head of the Sunday school department. Nevertheless, Promotion Sunday was a great step in our spiritual walk.

As we move through January, we’ve been experiencing a variety of temperatures. The summertime warmth caused us to toss our jackets and sweaters to the side, while the cold temps made us pick them up again. We might control some of the things that occur in our lives but, the weather is not one of them. We instead adapt to the ways of Mother Nature. I’ve learned to take one day at a time and enjoy the seasons within seasons.

Hello again everyone. Well, we already have one week behind us in this new year. Time just keeps a moving. Schools are back in session starting today.
I'm sure teachers and students are excited to get back into the classroom. They will start working on the final half of the school season. Ya'll please be careful and watch for school zones. Please put the cell phone away. Ya'll help me if I'm wrong, but I thought I heard on the news, beginning Jan. 2nd of this year, if you are caught holding your cell phone while driving, you will be ticketed. We'll see.

I hope that each of you had a wonderful New Years week, Happy New Year! We start back to school on Monday of this week, and kids come back on Wednesday. I would love to say that this has been a relaxing couple of weeks, but I spent a good amount of time at the doctor and hospital and ER with various family members. I would NOT trade helping them out for anything though. That is what families and friends like family do. They take care of each other and are one big unit.

Luke 8:1-3
"And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him. And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance," Luke 8:1-3.
